A Very Special Visit
He only knew three words in Spanish at that time: agua (water), pan (bread), and achachay (brrr!). Mateo had recently celebrated his third birthday when he was adopted from For His Children. At such a young age, he quickly learned a new language when he joined his family in Italy.
Mateo is now fourteen years old. He is an active young man, who likes to play soccer, practice capoeira (a form of martial arts), and participate in the Boyscouts. His parents describe him as a very empathetic, sensitive, curious, and determined boy. In his free time, he enjoys listening to music and spending time in nature with his dog.
For several years he’s been wanting to return to Ecuador. Mateo wanted to know more about the country where he was born and learn about the culture and customs. But above all, he wanted to return to FHC to thank the tias who took care of him with so much love the first years of his life.
A few weeks ago this dream came true when Mateo and his parents, Paola and Davide, were able to visit Quito and the FHC home! He brought chocolates for the tias and had a sweet encounter with Tía Gladys, one of the women who cared for him many years ago. It was a beautiful moment (pictured above).
Thank you for providing love and care to Mateo during his time at For His Children until he could join his forever family! You make stories like these possible and we are so grateful.
