A New Start For Nelly

Her dark hair framed a face marked with evidence of physical mistreatment. Baby Nelly* was just two months old when she was welcomed into the loving arms of the tias at FHC-Quito. Flustered and frustrated, she initially refused the bottles of formula her new caregivers offered.

However, over the course of two weeks, with patience and persistence, the tias slowly began to win over baby Nelly with the bottle and their hearts. Two months later, Nelly is a thriving, cheerful, healthy four-month-old. She’s developing rapidly and gaining weight. She is alert and attentive, and already recognizes her name. Nelly enjoys colorful objects and cooing in response to her tias as they converse with her. With her large eyes, dark curls, and sweet, peaceful demeanor, it is easy to see why Nelly is adored by all of her caregivers.

We are so thankful you have made it possible for infants like our precious Nelly to thrive in a safe and loving home. Because of your support, Nelly is able to receive much more than her basic needs. Nelly sees physical and speech therapists so that any possible issues can be addressed early. You’re ensuring she grows and develops to the best of her potential. Most of all, Nelly’s emotional and spiritual needs are being met. Her beautiful, bright smile reflects the confidence and contentment vulnerable little ones so desperately need from their earliest hours of life.

Thank you for allowing children like Nelly to have a fresh, new start during the most foundational and fundamental months of their lives!
